Volunteer with Harvest We are always looking for volunteers to help us at community events around the city. Our 'Scrumping Project' also looks for fruit-picking volunteers during the late summer and early autumn. If you'd like to get involved with any of these opportunities, please get in touch. Volunteer at a community food project There are also lots of great community food projects around the city where you can get involved. The projects listed below all have regular volunteer work days where you can learn about growing and share the rewards. We have also compiled a list of all the growing projects in the city (pdf, 157kb), not all of which are open to new volunteers, but please let us know if you want to be put in touch with one of them. Details of community food projects are also available on our local food map with other local food resources. If you have any questions about volunteering or want more advice on which project might be right for you, please contact us.

Brighton & Hove Organic Gardening Group This group exists to promote organic gardening to the local communities of Brighton and Hove and is a not-for-profit community organisation run entirely by volunteers. They organize a variety of events throughout the year including garden visits, workshops, plant swaps and seasonal celebrations. All these create opportunities for like-minded people to gather together and share their passion for organic gardening. From January 2012, the BHOGG allotment at Weald Allotments in Hove is 'under new management' and looking for a new batch of willing workers to help with all the seasonal tasks on site. A monthly program of practical workshops followed by a shift on the allotments is planned and will start in February 2012 so if you would like to find out more about volunteering on the BHOGG plots, just come along to one of these workshops as a 'taster' day. These sessions are free to BHOGG members, and for others cost £5 or 2 hours labour on the day. Please wear suitable clothing and bring your own lunch if you would like to. Tea and coffee provided.
