Bavarian Blaukraut

A tasty accompaniment for roast meat or sausages or nut roasts.Ingredients

1 red cabbage (1-1.5kg), washed and shredded
1 onion, sliced and cubed
3-4 tablespoons vinegar
2-3 tablespoons sugar
Salt, a good amount
10-12 juniper berries
2-3 cloves
Red wine, a good glug
Water, a little bit
2-3 grated apples
Methods/steps
Fry the onion in some oil for a few minutes.
Add the shredded cabbage and stir.
Immediately add the vinegar. Then add the other ingredients and give it a good stir.
Simmer for about 3/4 - 1 hour, until the cabbage is soft and aromatic.
