Level: Beginners to experienced gardeners and allotment holders.

Turn your waste into a resource! Each year we spend money on compost but throw away kitchen and other waste that could be making compost for us. So why not put your waste to work and save money? Producing compost is easy and rewarding and it benefits the environment as well.
What the course covers:
On this course participants will learn a variety of composting methods, the benefits of composting, what makes good compost and what doesn’t!
By the end of the course participants will have a thorough understanding of the key issues relating to making compost and have learnt how to turn garden and kitchen waste into organic and nutritious fertilizer for strong, healthy plants.
What you will need on the day:
This is a hands-on, practical course taught outdoors so please dress warmly and bring a waterproof jacket and shoes. All tools and materials will be provided by the trainers. Hot drinks and biscuits will also be provided. There are toilet facilities on site.

About the site: Whitehawk Community Food Project is a friendly, allotment-based organic gardening group. Volunteer days are Thursdays and Sundays 12pm-dusk and anyone who helps out on the allotment will be rewarded with fresh seasonal produce. This is a well-established site with beautiful sea views, polytunnels, orchard, and vegetable and herb gardens.
