Update
Harvest summer and autumn training programme: we've got lots of great courses lined up, including 'seed saving', 'dealing with pests and diseases organically', 'build your own wormbox', 'the winter salad box', and 'preserves, pickles and chutneys'. Harvest intership opportunity: Food Matters is seeking an intern to help research and write information to advise planners and developers on how best to include food growing in their proposals for new developments in the City. Find out more and how to apply.
Preston Park demonstration vegetable garden: The garden continues to grow well, managed by our stellar teams of volunteers, and it will have been very grateful for some rain after such dry weather. Keep up to date with developments at the garden through our garden blog.

June growing & eating tips
In the kitchen... early summer produce is here! Taste the first of the broadbeans, peas and strawberries. And elderflower is finally blooming - a bit late this year. Why not try making elderflower fritters, cordial, or even some elderflower champagne? See our recipe index for more seasonal eating ideas.
In the garden...if you've started off crops like tomatoes from seed, don't forget you need to move them into a larger pot as they grow! See our tomato tips for maintaining your plants.

Moulsecoomb Primary School Community Day & Produce Market
1 July, 3:15 - 5:00: Local residents are invited to Moulsecoomb Primary school for a Community Day and local produce market. The Community Day marks the end of the schools annual Heritage and Environment Festival and there will also be activites on archeaology, history and environment to explore. You can also buy and taste an array of locally produced foods.
