It's official - we have broken ground on our new vegetable patch in Preston Park! We've had a tremendous response from local people offering to volunteer or help out in other ways. Please do contact us if you'd like to get involved too. Tuesday's launch event was a real success with local residents, councillors, the Big Lottery Fund and even a few local dogs popping by to help start digging.
Our Growing Officer, Sarah Waters, who is managing the garden, will be providing updates here on our progress, so keep an eye on the blogs page for the latest news.
In the meantime, you can see more pictures from the launch on our Flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/harvestbh/.

Are you an experienced gardener with time to spare? Or have you always wanted to grow your own but lacked the space or the skills to do it?
Now you can get involved with a new growing project right in Preston Park! Harvest Brighton & Hove has been working with the City Council to setup a demonstration growing garden in the park that will be launched in early March.
We hope that local residents would like to volunteer with us to help setup the garden, manage it and take home some of the harvest! You can read more information about volunteering (pdf, 110Kb) or get in touch if you have any comments or want to get involved.

The Harvest team will soon be joining the blogosphere! Starting in early March we will be posting updates here about an exciting new project we're working on, plus plenty of gardening tips and local food news.
In the meantime, we're asking any experienced gardeners with a bit of spare time to get in touch if they are interested in using their skills to help us with our new project.
